How to prevent twisting in the navel piercing during pregnancy?

Im over seven weeks with twins. I've had my navel pierced for about 10 years. What is the best way to prevent the drilling of getting all stretched and distorted? Is it better to keep your jewelry to "keep" drilling together or to remove it and let the hole close? I do not care one way or another if I keep the hole or not, I just want to minimize scarring, deformity.
