Why is it that most companies do not hire people with piercings, tattoos, or other forms of body modification?

I love tattoos and piercings and everything that nature. Think of it as art and I think it's a beautiful form of expression. I know that body modification is seen as a taboo in most places, but I can not seem to wrap my mind around why people judge people who have decorated their bodies to be bad. I very curious as to what the mentality behind it is.
