How Old Do You Have To Be In Georgia To Get Your Ear Cartliage Pierced?

So, I’m about 11. I live in Gainesville, Ga. & I really want to get my ear cartilage pierced. There is two problems with this. 1. How old do i have to be? & 2. What’s a good piercing place(that can be outside of gainesville)?.

How old you have to be will depend on the shop. Do not get your cartilage pierced with a gun. Guns crush the surrounding tissue, and since they cannot be autoclaved, they can’t be properly sterilized and risk cross-contamination. While single use guns can eliminate that, it’s still very damaging, and it’s very likely whoever is doing it only got a two-week crash course on piercing and don’t know a thing about infection control and blood-borne pathogens. The gun actually also hurts more than an autoclave needle would.

So if you do get your cartilage done, get it done at a reputable shop where the piercers have been trained and are knowledgeable about health risks and are good about hygiene. It’s most likely though, you will have to wait a few years before this can be done, because even with parental permission, some shops will not pierce someone below a certain age. Shops around me refuse anyone under fifteen. It’s best to wait, because if you still want it in a few years, it’ll be all the more worth it. I wanted my nose pierced at thirteen and I waited until I was eighteen to finally get it done. The wait was worth it and it’s my very favorite piercing. You’re very young, so just wait it out because with kids your age, a lot of things are passing fads, even if you don’t realize it.

Also and above all, your parents must agree to this, since you’re obviously very young. In order to be pierced, one of your parents must accompany you, present id for both of you and a birth certificate to prove your relationship, no matter where you go. Minors have a strict policy, and if shops hold an exception, it’s not the place to go.
