Will my ear piercing pain go after 6 weeks?

I had my ear’s pierced done on monday, but they told me I had to change the back of the earrings today to a smaller butterfly clip so i did, but my ear was in so much pain i was crying, will the pain go after 6 weeks when i can change them because i cant cope with that pain every time i try and take the back off, please help…

pain is NORMAL for a fresh piercing.
you should not be touching the jewellery at all, especially not ‘spinning’ the jewellery, doing so is just irritating the fistula (hole) and possibly breaking it which will cause pain and extended healing times.

the ease pain, boil some water and add some salt, when it cools a bit you can soak the piercings, this eases pain a lot, and, it also helps draw out any nastiness that might be in there.

your piercing is probably still swollen so take a course of ibuprofen as this is an anti-inflamitory.

your jewellery could be too small, so you should try going to a professional (ie. not claires type of piercer) piercing studio, which can often be part of a tattoo studio too, explain your situation and ask if they can put in some suitable jewellery, they will probably charge you for this, but in the end, it’s your body, do you really want to risk it by having bad quality, too small jewellery in it?

the 6 weeks thing for healing, just a myth tbh, everyone heals differently, they can take up to 6 months to heal fully.

for good healing jewellery I’d reccomend TITANIUM 1.2mm gauge X 8-10mm legnth labret studs, you can buy different screw on accessories to change the style once they are healed, and they look like normal studs with the extra bonus of being good for the piercing!
