What should I do about my irritated piercing?

In November of 2008 I had my eyebrow pierced. It was done well, and I followed the aftercare instructions very carefully and it healed completely, within the eight weeks allotted, and I continued to follow the instructions until the eight weeks were completely up. In late March of this year I went with my girlfriend and her family to the Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend, as part of the soft opening. I swam in the chlorinated pool for about two to three hours a day, for three days. The day after we got home the top of my eyebrow piercing looked slightly red and inflamed, but the inflammation went down fairly quickly. However, now the piercing is consistently sensitive to touch and painful to press on, which it wasn’t before, and is slightly red and dried out on the top. I reverted to washing it daily with my aftercare spray, however it hasn’t improved yet, and it’s been a couple of weeks at the least. Any advice? Thank you!

Hopefully you already Neosporin or another antibiotic ointment. Dip the end going through the piercing into a bit of the ointment prior to placing it in your brow. Even after it’s cleared up and not painful, if you’ll just do this each time you take it out and put it back in–you won’t have this problem anymore.
