Belly ring infection symptoms/treatment?
Has anyone ever had an infection from their belly button ring piercing? I’ve had my piercing for two years with no problems. I keep it very clean – shower daily etc. Still, I’ve noticed a bad odor/small amount of a brownish discharge from the area the past few weeks. I’ve been cleaning it twice a day with anti-bacterial soap and hydrogen peroxide and it still hasn’t cleared up. I had my doc look at it but she just said to apply the hydrogen peroxide and that hasn’t worked. Has this happened to anywone else? Would an antibiotic work? Thanks for your help!
This is what worked for me…….You need to dry the infection out. Take a glass of hot water filled half way (Not too hot that it burns), and add about two table spoons of sea salt. While you are standing or lying down place the glass over your belly ring and make sure the the lip of the glass seals itself around your piercing. Lean back and or ly down for 20 minutes to soak the infected area. When you are done dry it good and try to avoid letting your clothes rub on it. When you are in the shower try to turn and twist the ring to help remove any debris from it but be careful not to push it into the actual whole of the piercing. Do this for a bout a week twice a day. It is does not get better call a piercing studio and ask what they suggest. DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN! It will only make it worse. Good Luck!!!
