Cartilage piercing information?

I'm getting my cartilage piercing in a few days and I'm very nervous. I have some questions about: 1) What is the pain on a scale of 1-5 to be? 2) How long before we can begin to swim with it without being able to get some infected? 3) What signs of infection? 4) Is really bad after getting pierced? 5) Have you been happy when you get yours? 6) What I can do with a gun? I've heard they can break the cartilage, but the people I know who have obtained a gun had no problem with it. I heard that the cartilage can be changed. This does not mean it. Is this true?
